jQuery Chosen as Mercury's Web 2.0 Javascript Platform

"Write less, do more"

The developers at WebKit  have experience in Prototype, Scriptaculous, YUI and jQuery. We had to choose between attempting to support all kinds of new user-interface platforms or focusing on one.

The verdict is in: jQuery.

In the end it came down to what the majority of our core designers and development partners were already using.  There is so much functionality that builds upon jQuery that it became our obvious choice.  We've already implemented Mercury features using auto-refreshing tabs, content sliders and dynamic in-page updates.

For more on jQuery you can check out the official site.
